Tiger Pride Marching Band Travels to Fort Hays State University;

Earns Superior Score

by Ryan Partin on October 28, 2015

The Tiger Pride Marching Band traveled to Fort Hays State University on Monday, October 26th. They participated in the High Plains Marching Festival. The band performed their halftime show titled, "Funk." Songs included: Apache, Uptown Funk, and Brick House. Ulysses was one of 14 schools represented at the event from across the state of Kansas.

The students were rated by a panel of judges based on music, drill, marching maneuvers, percussion, and overall general effect. The judging rubric ranges from: Ineffective, Poor, Average, Excellent, and Superior. The average of all of the judges ratings for Ulysses came out to be a Superior score.

The kids all worked very hard to put the show together and it showed in their performance Monday afternoon. Everyone on the field contributed to the superior rating, and I felt that it was well-deserved. I am very proud of the hard work they have put in so far this year, and I am excited to continue striving for excellence!
