Ulysses Tiger Varsity Softball Can't Capture Shootout

Loses 12-10 to Liberal in Game One, Lose Game Two 17-12

Fifteen hits weren't enough for Ulysses Tiger softball team as it lost a shootout, 12-10 in seven innings, to Liberal one on Tuesday.

Morgan Kistler, Carli Perez and Brianna Klein each had 3 hits.  Karina Ochoa racked up two RBIs on two hits for Tigers. She tripled in an 8 run fifth inning and singled in the sixth inning.

Liberal was sparked by Hay and Ralston, who teamed up for three hits and two RBIs.

In Game Two:
The Ulysses Tiger softball team lost a battle of the bats on Tuesday, falling short in a 17-12 ballgame against Liberal two.

Kayley Neitherlin racked up two RBIs on four hits for Ulysses Tiger Softball Varsity. She singled in the first, second, sixth, and seventh innings.

Liberal jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first. Hay singled to ignite the Redskins offense. A passed ball then moved Hay from first to second. Liberal pushed more runs across when Ralston scored on a walk by Hasik and Cisneros scored on a walk by Rosales.

The Tigers scored seven runs of its own in the first. The Tigers scored on a two-run single by Morgan Price, a wild pitch, a two-run triple by Karina Ochoa, a passed ball, and an RBI single by Carolina Gallegos.

Liberal two matched its one-run second inning with one more in the fifth. In the second, Liberal two scored on a passed ball, plating Hay.

The game's last lead went to Liberal thanks to a fourth inning rally that saw four runs cross the plate on a three-run double by Rosales and a groundout by Sanchez.

Three Ulysses runs crossed the plate in the bottom half of the sixth, making the score 13-11. An RBI single by Neitherlin, an RBI double by Morgan Kistler, and an RBI single by Price sparked the Tigers rally.

Liberal two tacked on another four runs in the seventh. A error scored Hay to get Liberal two on the board in the inning.

One run in the bottom of the seventh helped Ulysses close its deficit to 17-12.

An RBI single by Neitherlin gave the Tigers life. Finally, Darroch got Price to fly out to end the game.
