ULYSSES, KS — July 30, 2026 — Hickok Elementary School campus and grounds will close today, July 30, 2026, at 2:00 PM for the remainder of the day.
The Ulysses Police Department (UPD) will be onsite starting at 2:00 PM to conduct critical incident response training. This summer exercise allows local law enforcement personnel to utilize the vacant school facility to practice safety procedures and maintain high readiness levels.
District officials request that all community members, recreational park users, and residents stay completely clear of the school building, playgrounds, and fields during this afternoon's training. There is no active emergency or threat; the increased police presence is strictly for training purposes.
The building will remain locked and inaccessible for the duration of the event. Normal summer access to the campus grounds will resume tomorrow morning.
